Introduction

Your librarians can help you with questions relating to the information you need for your work, such as where to find the information sources and different types of information, how to reference them in your School style, how to manage the information you gather and read, and how to improve your literature searches including for systematic reviews.

You can book a one-to-one with us or a group training session.

What to do if need to cancel

If for any reason you cannot attend your appointment, please cancel your booking as soon as you can as this will free up the time for another student. Your booking confirmation and reminder emails include a link that will cancel your appointment. Alternatively, let us know by email.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your appointment, we will keep you informed of any changes and endeavour to reschedule as necessary.

Searching for Literature

Searching for Literature Online

Uncover search techniques to navigate academic databases efficiently. Learn about Boolean operators and tips to develop an effective search strategy to help you find relevant research for your literature review. Sharpen your ability to locate scholarly articles and primary sources effectively, ensuring your research is comprehensive and impactful.

This session is suitable for students undertaking a stand-alone literature review or as part of a wider assignment, such as a dissertation. It would also be useful to students undertaking a dissertation/project proposal module.

This workshop is open to students on any course and the skills discussed will be suitable for all subject areas. If you have very subject specific search queries you may wish to book a 1-2-1 session with a subject librarian.
